Description
Job Summary
The Production Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations, manage production staff, ensure smooth workflow on the shop floor, and coordinate with management to meet production targets. The role includes preparing production plans, monitoring performance, improving efficiency, and submitting periodic reports.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on orders and material availability.
• Submit a 3-month production plan to management in advance.
• Ensure production schedules are met without delays.
• Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and quality departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Optimize manpower allocation on the production floor.
2. Floor Management
• Oversee the entire shop-floor activities, including machine operation, manpower performance, and workflow.
• Monitor equipment utilization and ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
• Enforce safety procedures, workplace discipline, and housekeeping on the production floor.
• Solve on-spot production issues and reduce downtime.
3. Reporting & Documentation
• Submit daily production report to the boss/plant manager.
• Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports, including output, machine downtime, rejection percentage, and material usage.
• Maintain proper documentation of production records, shift logs, and KPI reports.
• Develop and follow standard reporting procedures for supervisors and shift leaders.
4. Quality & Compliance
• Ensure all products meet company quality standards.
• Coordinate with QC/QA teams on in-process and final quality checks.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, Kaizen).
5. Leadership & Team Management
• Supervise production supervisors, machine operators, and floor workers.
• Conduct training for new staff and upskilling for existing employees.
• Evaluate team performance and provide feedback.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Paper / Plastic / Perfume / Food industry preferred).
• Strong knowledge of production planning, floor management, and reporting systems.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
