Job Summary

The SPT Operator is responsible for conducting Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) at site to determine soil properties and subsurface conditions. The role supports geotechnical investigations for construction and infrastructure projects by ensuring accurate testing, proper equipment handling, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) in accordance with ASTM and project specifications.

•Operate drilling rigs and related geotechnical equipment safely and efficiently.

•Measure and record blow counts (N-values) accurately during testing.

•Collect soil samples and ensure proper labeling and preservation.

•Assist geotechnical engineers during borehole drilling and site investigations.

•Maintain daily site logs, test reports, and field records.

•Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of SPT equipment.

•Follow project method statements and quality control procedures.

•Comply with HSE regulations and maintain safe working conditions.

•Coordinate with site supervisors and engineers to ensure testing is conducted as per approved locations and depths.

•Identify abnormal soil conditions and report findings to the supervising engineer

Required Qualifications

•Technical diploma or relevant certification in drilling or geotechnical works.
•2–5 years of experience in geotechnical field testing.
•Knowledge of ASTM D1586 (Standard Penetration Test) procedures.
•Experience operating drilling rigs and sampling tools.
•Ability to work in field conditions and remote project sites.
