Description
The Pastry Commis is responsible for preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality pastries, desserts, baked goods, and related menu items in accordance with company recipes, quality standards, and operational requirements. The role requires hands-on execution of pastry production while maintaining hygiene, consistency, and efficiency within the pastry section.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and produce pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, baked items, sauces, fillings, and other pastry products according to approved recipes and presentation standards.
* Handle daily pastry production independently and ensure timely preparation for operations and service.
* Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, quality, and presentation of all pastry items.
* Monitor freshness and quality of ingredients and finished products.
* Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the pastry station and equipment.
* Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
* Manage proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients and prepared items.
* Minimize wastage and support food cost control initiatives.
* Operate bakery and pastry equipment safely and efficiently.
* Assist in stock monitoring and reporting shortages of pastry ingredients and supplies.
* Support menu development and seasonal pastry item preparation when required.
* Coordinate with kitchen and operations teams to ensure smooth daily production and service.
* Maintain compliance with company operational standards and kitchen procedures.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in pastry, bakery, or dessert production.
* Good knowledge of pastry preparation techniques and baking methods.
* Ability to work independently in pastry production.
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Culinary or pastry certification is an advantage.
* Experience in restaurants, cafés, bakeries, cloud kitchens, or hotel operations preferred.
