Job Purpose

Carries out preliminary investigations and Geological Exploration, at Open-Pits with the sole purpose of increasing the Ore Resources. Ensures that all persons in the department both follow and enforce the Open-Pit Mine Safety Rules & Regulations.

ROLE PROFILE

Carries out the function of the Senior Mine Geologist and all matters relating to the control of the Geology Department. Directs and ensures that the set of approved procedures with respect to controlling the ore tonnage and grade are observed by all concerned persons, mine technical staff, mine assay department and mine contractors. Provides the necessary on the job training to all persons employed in the mining department to enable them to perform their duties. As the technical department relies almost entirely on the use of computes, training will be provided to use of the computer and the software being used. Constructs and up-dates all the necessary plans and sections, for assays, geology, ore resources, etc, for both the present day use and the keeping of accurate archives. These plans and sections will be kept both as hard copy and computer files. Up-dates the Ore Resources and related on a regular monthly basis. Collects the necessary daily statistics to produce the weekly and monthly reports. Carries out preliminary investigations and Geological Exploration, at Open-Pits with the sole purpose of increasing the Ore Resources.Ensures that all persons in the department both follow and enforce the Open-Pit Mine Safety Rules & Regulations. Carries out other similar or related duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Geology, and courses in grade control procedures)Computer literacy : MS application and related mining software's (SURPAC).
