Description
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and organized Purchasing Officer – Construction to manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities for our construction projects.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in construction purchasing, strong knowledge of construction materials and local suppliers, and the ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, site teams, engineers, project managers, stores, and accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete purchasing process from receiving purchase requisitions to sourcing, quotation comparison, purchase order issuance, and delivery.
Source construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, consumables, and site supplies.
Identify and maintain a database of reliable and approved suppliers and vendors.
Request quotations from suppliers and prepare quotation comparison sheets.
Compare prices, specifications, quality, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive prices and favorable commercial terms.
Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs/LPOs), RFQs, delivery notes, GRNs, and related procurement documents.
Follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmations, availability, production, and delivery schedules.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, quantity surveyors, site supervisors, storekeepers, and accounts regarding material requirements.
Ensure materials are purchased according to approved specifications, quantities, quality standards, and project requirements.
Monitor pending purchase orders, material requirements, and delivery schedules.
Verify delivered materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, quantities, and specifications.
Coordinate replacement or return of damaged, incorrect, or incomplete materials.
Assist Accounts with checking supplier invoices against POs and delivery documents.
Maintain accurate purchase registers, supplier records, open-order reports, and procurement documentation.
Prepare procurement tracking reports and maintain records using MS Excel.
Support management in identifying cost-saving opportunities and reliable suppliers.
Requirements
Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in purchasing/procurement within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, and consumables.
Experience dealing with suppliers and vendors in the Bahrain construction market is highly preferred.
Good understanding of purchasing procedures, quotations, POs/LPOs, RFQs, GRNs, invoices, and delivery documentation.
Strong negotiation, communication, coordination, and supplier follow-up skills.
Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to prepare quotation comparison sheets, purchase registers, and procurement tracking reports.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple purchase orders and urgent material requirements simultaneously.
Experience with ERP/procurement software is an advantage.
Must be currently available in Bahrain.
Immediate joiners are strongly preferred.
Preferred Candidates
Candidates with previous experience working with construction contractors, fit-out companies, MEP companies, engineering companies, or building material suppliers in Bahrain will be given priority.
