Role Overview

The Child Psychologist plays a central role in supporting the emotional, social, and cognitive development of learners at a new Academy. With a doctoral-level qualification (PhD) in psychology, the role combines clinical expertise, research-based practice, and educational collaboration to ensure every child has access to holistic support. The Child Psychologist also contributes to the unique Learning System by integrating mental health, wellness, and resilience into daily school life, aligning with the Fundamentals of Wellness, Growth, and Values.

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Support & Assessment

Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of learners to identify strengths, challenges, and needs.
Provide one-to-one and group interventions for learners experiencing emotional, behavioural, or learning difficulties.
Support students with issues such as anxiety, attention challenges, social skills, self-esteem, and stress management.

2. Collaboration with Staff & Parents

Work closely with guides to integrate psychological insights into classroom strategies.
Provide training and consultation to staff on child development, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour management.
Engage parents and guardians with guidance, feedback, and workshops to strengthen home-school partnerships.

3. Preventative & Developmental Programs

Design and implement school-wide wellness and resilience programs.
Contribute to the learning systems projects by embedding themes of emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and personal growth.
Lead group activities that enhance social-emotional learning (SEL) and peer relationships.

4. Research & Compliance

Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards in psychology.
Stay updated with evidence-based interventions and current research in child psychology.

Qualifications & Skills

PhD in Clinical, Educational, or Child Psychology (mandatory).
Licensed or eligible for licensing in Bahrain (or international equivalent).
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in school or child-focused settings.
Expertise in child development, assessment, and intervention strategies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary educational environment.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding of diverse learner backgrounds.

Teaching Qualification is preferred.
Must be fluent in English. (Arabic is a plus)
