Description
Position Overview
The Instrument Technician is responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of industrial instrumentation and control systems. This role ensures accurate measurement, safe operation, and optimal performance of equipment used in process, mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
Key Responsibilities
● Install, test, and commission instrumentation devices such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, level gauges, and control valves.
● Perform routine calibration and adjustment of instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
● Diagnose and repair faults in instrumentation systems, PLC interfaces, and control
loops.
● Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on field instruments and control panels.
● Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and technical manuals.
● Support shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance activities.
● Ensure proper documentation of calibration reports, maintenance logs, and service records.
● Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
● Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company HSE policies.
● Assist in upgrading or modifying instrumentation systems when required.
Skills & Competencies
● Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
● Ability to troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, control valves, and PLC I/O modules.
● Familiarity with calibration tools (e.g., multimeters, loop calibrators, pressure pumps).
● Understanding of industrial standards (ISA, IEC).
● Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
● Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
● Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Qualifications
● Diploma or Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related field.
● 2–5 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility management environments.
● Experience with PLC‑based systems is an advantage.
● Knowledge of safety procedures and industrial regulations.
Work Environment
● Industrial facilities, plants, workshops, and field sites.
● May require shift work, on‑call duty, and support during shutdowns.
