A North Indian Master Tailor (often referred to as Master Ji or Cutting Master) is a highly skilled artisan responsible for the end-to-end creation of traditional, indo-western, and modern garments, with a focus on precision cutting, pattern making, and garment construction. They are typically found in high-end boutiques, fashion houses or export units, specializing in intricate ethnic wear such as lehengas, blouses, anarkalis, and suits.

Key Job Responsibilities
Pattern Making & Cutting: Drafting detailed, manual paper patterns based on sketches or designs and cutting fabric with precision to ensure minimal wastage.
Garment Construction & Tailoring: Overseeing or performing the stitching of complex North Indian outfits such as
Ladies: Bridal Lehengas, Designer Blouses, Anarkalis, Sharara/Gharara sets, Salwar Kameez.
Mens: Sherwanis, Bandhgalas, Jodhpuri suits, Kurta-pajama sets.
Fitting & Alterations: Conducting trial fittings, taking precise measurements, and adjusting garments to achieve a perfect fit.
Supervision: Mentoring junior tailors and helpers on advanced stitching methods and quality standards.
Quality Control: Ensuring high-end "boutique-style" finishing, including inspecting seams, lining, embroidery, and fabric fall.
Client Consultation: Advising clients on suitable fabric, styles, and design modifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 3 to 5+ years of experience in manual pattern-making and cutting, particularly in North Indian ethnic wear.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of fabrics (silk, chiffon, velvet, etc.) and proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines (lockstitch, overlock).
Creativity: Ability to interpret, adapt, or create designs from sketches.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous eye for detail to ensure flawless fit and finishing.
Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency in draping and handling intricate designs.
