We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Materials Controller to join our team. In this role, you will be the primary gatekeeper for our inventory, ensuring that every piece of steel—from large beams to small off-cuts—is accounted for, optimized, and traceable throughout the fabrication process.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in heavy fabrication and a keen eye for maximizing material efficiency to reduce waste.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee, monitor, and follow up on all material requirements for ongoing projects to ensure zero downtime.
• Perform nesting of raw materials and off cuts to ensure maximum utilization and minimal scrap.
• Maintain meticulous Heat Number records for all project materials to comply with quality and safety standards.
• Track stock levels in real-time and conduct regular physical counts to reconcile digital records with physical inventory.
• Accurately release materials to the workshop based on approved Cutting Lists and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Systematically organize and track off-cuts and scrap for future reuse or proper disposal.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Knowledge
• 2–5 years of experience specifically within the Steel Structures or Heavy Fabrication industry.
• Strong technical understanding of steel grades and various measurement units.
Skills
• Proficient in MS Excel (advanced formulas) or experience working with ERP software.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and Cutting Lists.
Personal Traits
• Essential for maintaining Heat Number accuracy and inventory records.
• Ability to manage a busy stockyard and workshop flow efficiently.
