Job Summary

The Piping Support Fitter is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and adjustment of pipe supports, including standard supports, special supports, and spring hangers, in accordance with support drawings and project specifications. Work shall comply with applicable structural and piping codes and the approved ITP.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret pipe support drawings, isometrics, and structural detail drawings to determine correct support type, size, location, and orientation.
Fabricate pipe support components (brackets, shoe bases, U-bolts, clamps, dummy legs, trunnions) from structural steel and pipe materials as per drawings.
Mark out, cut, drill, and weld support steelwork in compliance with structural WPS and project specifications.
Install fabricated supports at correct location (coordinates, elevation, line number) as per approved drawings and survey control points.
Coordinate with civil/structural team for anchor bolt installations, embedded plates, and concrete insert alignments.
Ensure correct installation of variable and constant spring hangers, slide plates, guides, and anchor supports per vendor data and design drawings.
Perform field modifications or adjustments to supports as directed by the Piping Engineer when routing or elevation discrepancies are identified.
Submit requests for QC inspection at hold points (fit-up, dimensional check, weld visual, final installation) as required by the support ITP.
Report interferences, missing anchor bolts, or drawing discrepancies to the Piping Foreman / Engineer without delay.
Maintain safe working practices including PTW compliance, scaffolding use, rigging of heavy support assemblies, and PPE requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in piping support fabrication and installation in oil & gas or petrochemical projects.
Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics, support drawings, and structural details.
Competency in structural steel fitting, welding fit-up, and use of cutting/grinding equipment.
Familiarity with pipe support types (shoe, spring, guide, anchor, sliding, trunnion) and their installation requirements.
