A site accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations at a specific project or field location. This role is a hybrid position that combines traditional accounting duties with on-site operational responsibilities, specifically in inventory management and storekeeping. This professional ensures the financial health and accuracy of the site while also overseeing the physical assets and materials.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for the site.

Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.

Handle cash flow, petty cash, and expense reports.

Ensure compliance with all company policies and accounting standards.

Inventory and Storekeeping:

Oversee the entire inventory cycle, from procurement to consumption.

Conduct regular physical counts and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

Maintain detailed records of all materials entering and leaving the site store.

Implement and maintain efficient storekeeping procedures to prevent loss, damage, or theft.

Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to forecast material needs.

Reporting and Analysis:

Provide regular reports on site profitability, material usage, and stock levels.

Analyze variances between budgeted and actual costs.

Identify and report on any discrepancies in financial or inventory records.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required.

Experience: Proven experience as a site accountant or similar role is essential. Candidates should have a strong background in inventory management and storekeeping.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel is crucial.

Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic on-site environment.
