Description

Job Summary

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for managing the maintenance, repair, and servicing of construction heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, cranes, and trucks. The role ensures equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for operation while supervising mechanics and workshop activities.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair

Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of heavy equipment

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults

Ensure repairs are completed efficiently and correctly

Maintain service records and maintenance logs

Team Supervision

Supervise and guide mechanics, technicians, and helpers

Assign daily tasks and monitor work progress

Train staff on proper repair procedures and safety practices

Evaluate staff performance and productivity

Safety & Compliance

Enforce workshop safety rules and company policies

Ensure tools, machines, and equipment are used safely

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment

Ensure compliance with manufacturer and industry standards

Workshop & Inventory Management

Monitor availability of spare parts, tools, and consumables

Coordinate ordering of parts and materials

Control workshop costs and reduce equipment downtime

Coordinate with site managers regarding equipment needs

Reporting & Communication

Prepare maintenance reports and breakdown analysis

Communicate equipment status to management

Support planning of equipment usage and availability

Required Skills & Qualifications

Diploma or technical training in mechanical engineering or heavy equipment maintenance

Strong knowledge of construction heavy equipment systems

Leadership and team management skills

Problem-solving and diagnostic abilities

Basic computer skills for reports and records

Knowledge of safety regulations

Experience

3–7 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance

Previous supervisory or lead mechanic experience preferred
